Obituary of Samuel Yazzolino
Samuel F. Yazzolino (age 91) entered into his eternal resting place surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 18, 2017 in Ferndale, WA. Sam was born on April 1, 1926 in Seattle, WA to Salvatore and Jessie (Maletta) Yazzolino. He attended Franklin High in Seattle, WA and was eventually presented an honorary diploma in 2005. Sam proudly served his country in the USCG during WWII. During his working career, Sam was an entrepreneur owning multiple businesses such as a convenience store, a dry cleaner, a hotel and a bakery and eventually retiring at 86.
Sam was very active in the Sons of Italy, AARC and the Knights of Columbus. People will remember him most for being a car enthusiast, story teller, food lover and having a great sense of humor. However, the his most notable qualities would have to be his contagious smile and welcoming hugs. He was loving and caring to his family and a good friend to many.
Sam married his first wife Fran (deceased) and had two sons Mike of Pasadena, CA and Tony of Bellingham, WA. In 1979 Sam married Sherrie Thomas and started their journey of 38 beautiful years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Ferndale; sons Tim Yazzolino of Bellingham, WA, and Paul Yazzolino of Thornton, CO; daughters, Tammie Quintero of Round Hill, VA; Maria of Burlington, WA and Amanda of Ferndale, WA; Pauline of CA, Thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Alfred, Carmen and Frank and sister, Mary.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church 2116 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham, WA. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Scott Connolly and Fr. Bryan Ochs officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Whatcom Hospice or an account at Industrial Credit Union for a memorial bench with commemorative plaque to be installed at Boulevard Park in Sam's name.
